Promoting The Human Rights Of Ordinary People Using Technology

People normally think that the latest video cameras are very good  to make videos for you tube and  for other internet sites or just to shoot some birthday parties, or mobile phones and  other technologies are only for personal use or for recreational purposes. There are many people however who use this technology to create awareness about human rights.

Change comes when a person or a group of  sincere people think of  changing the lives of people for the better. Due to the efforts of such people things are changing  and people now are seriously thinking  of considering  the use of technology in bringing about some positive changes. But this is not enough. Of course when videos expose the  brutality and abuses, the media seriously highlight it and most people think that it is enough and their responsibility has finished. In fact true responsibility starts when any act against human rights is brought into the limelight, no matter what creed or colour the victim belongs to. The need is to take concrete steps towards the objective and the objective obviously should be to secure the human rights of all the people in the world. So  now can you imagine promoting the human rights of ordinary people using technology?

Promoting the human rights of ordinary people using technology

Technology can be used in many ways to promote human rights. The possibilities are endless. For example an organization recording videos of abuse could then use online technologies to push authorities for policy changes. They are using Flip camcorders because FLIP is more secure in dangerous situations.

Some people are also using animation technology on a big scale to expose the torture in  Guantanamo Bay.

1- We can use our mobile phones to promote human rights – we can send MMS, SMS, videos to our friends to educate them about social justice and human rights.

2- While using the internet we can spend a few minutes to chat and discuss some issues with our  social network of friends to gather them for a unanimous change against any anti human rights activity.

3- Governments can also use information technology and other technologies to promote the human rights of ordinary people.

The journey has begun and soon a measurable change will come because technology makes this possible.
